Art Workshop for Children

In Art Workshop for Children, a unique child-led approach provides a framework for cultivating creative thinking and encourages the wonder that comes when young artists are allowed to freely explore the creative process.

The book includes a series of open-ended workshops that begin with minimal, basic materials and skills. As the book progresses and kids learn more about art-making, the projects become more complex, slowly introducing new materials and skills.

As children work through the open-ended workshops, adults are guided on how to provide questions, encourage deep thinking, and help spark an excitement for discovery. Sidebar essays introduce perspectives on mess-making, imperfection, collaborative art, and thoughts on the Reggio Emilia method, a self-guided teaching philosophy. The essays underscore the value of art-making with children.
