Welcome to dickblick
It's called "Colourfix" for the obvious reason. This very permanent, lightfast coated paper withstands all manner of artistic experimentation (and even punishment).
These papers are used successfully in practically all media — pastels, charcoal, pencil, oils, acrylic, gouache, inks, silverpoint, and even watercolor. The natural toothy surface is ideal for pastels, pencil, or charcoal, as it will hold multiple overlays of color without the need to fix between layers.
The absence of fixative allows the velvet bloom and vibrant color of pastel to be preserved. (Apply a final light spray of fixative if desired.)
The unique, fine tooth surface is produced by screen printing Art Spectrum Colourfix Primer onto a heavy weight Hot Press watercolor paper. Available in 9" × 12" (229 mm × 305 mm) or 19½" × 27½" (495 mm × 686 mm) sheets. 140 lb (300 gsm).
Cool Tones Pack
Includes the following 10 cool tones in a 9" × 12" (229 mm × 305 mm) sheet pack: Blue Haze, Deep Black, Deep Ultra, Elephant, Fresh Gray, Leaf Green Dark, Natural, Rose Gray, Storm Blue, and White.
Includes all 20 colors in the Colourfix line in a 9" × 12" (229 mm × 305 mm) sheet pack.
Warm Tones Pack
Includes the following 10 warm tones in a 9" × 12" (229 mm × 305 mm) sheet pack: Aubergine, Australian Gray, Burgundy, Burnt Umber, Olive Green, Raw Sienna, Rich Beige, Sand, Soft Umber, and Terra Cotta.

Great surface for Pastel!
from Zephyrhills, FL
It is REALLY nice! I didn't rave about it because there are other papers out there that are also very nice and pastel people have their likes and dislikes. I like Art Spectrum papers because they are not too gripping, like some of the other sanded papers on the market. I also like the color of the papers. The darks are very dark and velvety and the lights are very pretty. Some of my pastels are not worked in the background so the subject is coordinated with the color of the paper. It is a bit pricey, however, and requires a bit of experience to use it well.
Great paper for pastels
By #melody pastels
from Lake Forest, CA
This paper stands up to turpenoid or alcohol washes on under painting. It accepts multiple layers of pastel due to the grit in the coating. I love the effect of the terra cotta color under a landscape painting.
I would buy these again
I have used these pastel papers for some time now. Makes it easey for me to get started on my next painting and saves time.I have never been disappointed with this product.

I love this paper! The color fix helps me when choosing a scenery to paint. I recently did negative painting in pastels on the black paper and it was a joy to do. I buy the rainbow pack when on sale only from Blick as the price is right for a great product.

This is a moderately priced paper and great for learning how to layer pastels. Withstands a lot of abuse and can layer nicely. Great assortment of colors...just wish they had a yellow ocher!

I've used this product for many years
from Ypsilanti, MI
I use this product often for my pastel landscapes. It holds many layers, but isn't as gritty as some other papers. I also love the color options and find the terra cotta and sienna great for really green landscapes.
