This is a very smooth, white clay body that is excellent for both hand-building and wheel-throwing. Formulated for use with Glazewerks FW Series glazes, White Talc I works well with most commercial low-fire glazes. Bisque fire to cone A.R.T. Studio Clay Company formulates its clay bodies using a principle called "multiple similar clays." By blending comparable clays together, the company’s dependence on just one mine or one clay is greatly reduced. The obvious advantage of this method is a higher consistency from batch to batch. In creating its clay bodies, A.R.T. employs a three-step processing system instead of the two-step process used by most clay manufacturing companies. The clay is dry-blended, then wet-blended, and finally de-aired in a five-function, two-level, industrial-size pug mill, which cuts, pelletizes, shreds, de-airs, and pugs the clay. Similar to the meters used to measure gasoline, the water meters used on A.R.T.’s wet-blending equipment are periodically cleaned and recalibrated to maintain accuracy. All A.R.T. moist clays feature a usable shelf life of one year if stored in an airtight container in cool conditions. Note — Any combination of clay, plaster, and molding material totaling 50 lbs or more does not qualify for our free shipping offer. ® Glazewerks is a registered trademark. |
