Art is Fundamental is a fun and rewarding art curriculum that can easily enhance elementary teachers' existing instruction plans. The lessons, detailed and tested in many classrooms, build upon one another in a logical progression that explores texture, color, shape, line, form, value, balance, unity, contrast, movement, distortion, emphasis, pattern, and rhythm.
In these lessons, students experiment with printmaking, watercolor painting, calligraphy, sculpture, collage, and more. The interdisciplinary approach also offers vocabulary improvement and supports science, math, social studies, and language arts.
Though written for the elementary level, this curriculum can easily be tailored to middle and high school students.
