Comments about Armour Etch:
I haven't used Armour Etch in many years and was unsure if it was still on the market. Local craft stores didn't have it in stock, so I found it on this site through a google search. I etched a piece of glass and it worked perfectly. I should have bought a larger bottle, though!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great stuff! Great price!

Using Armour etch crème effectively takes practice and there are many helpful tips on the internet. Dick Blick has the best price on this item.
Should work great for Christmas gifts
Does what it is supposed to do...I think
I use it to etch my own designs into beveled glass for inclusion into stained glass panels. It does etch the glass and does so very quickly. My only concern is that close inspection shows there is not a smooth, uniform look to the etched surface. That may be due to my inexperience using the product, but I don't know how to determine that or how to correct it. I don't know of another product to compare it to.

I started out using this cream & stencils for my glass & mirror etching. Love the product. Wish the creme didn't take so long to process. I've done so many pieces, Which I intended to Sell at the Draft fairs & found myself giving everything away. You Must be extremely Careful When using regular lg. stencils, make Certain the product is with in your design or your opt to have spots frosted (etched) that you don't Want.
Fun to use

The product is easy to use and fun for everyone with modifications. The stencils that come with the kit are fine for an adult to use. Due to the thin and slightly fragile stencils the heavy hand of a child they tend to rip. I use the heavier plastic stencils for the children. With practice a teenager or adult can take the plastic stencils, contact paper, X-Acto knife and create an entire picture form acid etching.
great fun..great results
If you use this...be prepared to stencil every piece of glass and mirror in your home...it's too much fun !!!

Does the Job

Used to etch glass ornaments, mirrors and strong windows.Note that it shows brush strokes when applied too thinly (corrected by reapplication.)Furthermore, it only creates unidimensional art. Your final product is an etched design on a clear background (or vice-versa) with no relief. If you are clever enough, you can achieve some reilef by etching both sides of two-sided glass piece.Easy to use with contact paper, transferable design and exacto knife on standard glass surfaces.
