Perfect for plein air painting and convenient for travel, Arches Watercolor Pads are ideal for both professional artists and students.
Each pad holds 12 sheets of natural white, 140 lb (300 gsm), 100% cotton paper that is acid-free. The paper is ideal for watercolor, gouache, ink, acrylics, drawing, and printmaking, and strong enough to handle multiple washes of color, masking fluid, scrubbing, and artist's tape without damage to the surface. Gelatin sizing gives each fiber a consistent feel and absorbency.
A long-time favorite of artists, Arches watercolor paper is produced on a cylinder mould machine and has been manufactured in the same French paper mill since 1492.

Arches is my choice of 140 lb watercolor paper. It allows me to use washes without a problem. Quality paper.
Arches quality paper
I use watercolor paper CP + Rough from Arches exclusively for oil pastel as well as for oil painting and acrylic.I find it to be a good quality product for the price. No worries wasting it!

Best paper ever
By Cindy Skillman
from Rapid City, SD
These pads are so easy to use, and such excellent paper. I use them for trying out new ideas, etc., before moving to larger paper or Arches board. I bought a bottle of padding compound (available at Dick Blick) and I use it to turn these pads into watercolor blocks. I clip the edges together with bulldog clips while they dry. Be sure to leave an open spot for separating the sheets when a painting is finished!
Arches paper - lovely as always
from Dallas, TX
I am spoiled by using Arches 300 pound watercolor blocks - but they do get very expensive. So, tried these 140 pound paper pads...the paper does curl up quite a bit with use. One must stretch or flatten after. But, it's great for the budget and I love the paper quality above all other brands. I tried the rough texture this time - I will be buying more rough as opposed to cold press - the rough paper adds another level of depth to the surface - not sure why more people do not use or recommend the rough texture. I love it!

Great Product - (work on shipping methods)
from Dillsburg, PA
This paper is quite the upscale when compared to its counterparts. I was far impressed with the quality of this product and highly recommend it to any one who is pursuing watercolors. The only one thing I did not like is the shipping method. The product was just put into an envelope and when I received it, the corners were dinged up. That should not be the case. Shipper should use a cushion mailer at the least! But.........I can not say enough good things about the paper. I will be buying more soon.
Nice to have good Arches paper in an easy to use pad. I buy this size to use as is and because a half sheet is still a comfortable size, then I don't need two pads.I also really like the texture - not too rough and not smooth, the perfect Goldilocks in watercolor paper. The only drawback is that I like this paper so well, I don't get around to buying other brands to compare it to (so I can honestly say it's the Best in its Category).
Outstanding Watercolor Paper
I've tried quite a few watercolor papers, working my way up the ladder from student grade up to moderately priced professional, and decided to treat myself to some Arches. Wow is it worth the hype, amazing qualify, and the texture on the rough press is superb, it makes your paintings sing. Would recommend this to anyone looking for high quality paper.
Very nice paper.
I avoided purchasing this paper for a while due to it's price, but finally tried it out. What a drastic difference from student papers. These can take much more abuse, I had no pilling, and minimal warping. Paints and water spread in a much more attractive way and I can work an area over and over again without issues, a huge advantage over the other papers I've tried. I still think it's expensive, but worth it, certainly. On issue I seemed to have is that it is more difficult to totally erase pencil lines on this paper, even though I use a very light lead with very light strokes. I could totally erase any hint of them on cheaper papers.
Best of the best
This is the best hot pressed paper I have ever used. Stands up to scrubbing and all sorts of abuse. Highly recommended.
