I have purchase almost 100 of these in all different sizes

Comments about Ampersand Value Series Artist Panels:
For what I am using them for, they are fantastic. The 1/8 are thin enough to put into a regular frame and can also handle the weight I put on them.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have used other "canvas surface" cradled panels; this does not compare. The surface is in no way similar to canvas---it is pebbly and unpleasant, with a quality more, I suppose, like leather, once a light coat of paint or underpainting (oil) is applied. All I can say for it is that at least it gets rid of the slipperiness or slickness of a simply primed panel of this type, with, at least, more tooth than that. I am away from my home, with limited access to art supplies, and ordered this thinking it would be like others that I had used from a different source. I was extremely disappointed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I love these boards. Super smooth great detail. Perfect for beginers and professionals alike.

Good for quick works if you want a cradled surface and don't have time to gesso your own. No problems so far, though the texture can be a but over the top if you paint thin. For textural works they're fine. I appreciate them for shows as I often don't bother to wire and velcro directly to the panel.

I have tried two other brands of panels (basically all the panels Blick carries), and I think these are the best of the three. They are a little slick for the paint I am using (Golden acrylics) and could use a little more tooth, but after one layer of dry paint they will be fine. One other brand is even more slick, and the third brand has an annoying texture. I felt the price was pretty good. I ordered 40, and I will definitely use them up.

Perfect for what I bought them for I will buy them again.

I was working on a series for a show called "Spectacular Sky's". I wanted to us ink and resin so I needed a stable surface. I wanted the effect of a canvas surface. If I had used a stretched canvas it would have slumped in the middle. I learned this lesson the hard way. This was the most logical choice. It worked great. I have used the birch cradled panels in the past with fabulous results but I didn't get that look of the canvas.

I use these for oils. Have tried several other similar panels but these are the best so far. I love the feel of the canvas texture. Smooth ones don't fit my style. I've used these for both a layering technique as well as alla prima. They are fantastic for both. Blick has the best price that I've found for these and fast shipping.Very satisfied and I'll contnue to order them.
