Use Amaco Rub 'n Buff Metallic Finishes for decorating or antiquing wood, plaster, pottery, metal, leather, or gessoed surfaces. Rub on and buff to a beautiful luster. For hard-to-reach areas, thin with turpentine and apply with brush. Colors can be blended.
Each tube contains ½ oz (15 ml), enough to cover up to 20 square feet. (One square meter equals approximately 10.6 square feet.)
Note — The formula for Rub 'n Buff has been modified. It now exhibits the qualities of a creamy paste rather than a stiff, toothpaste consistency. The liquid medium used in Rub 'n Buff's manufacture may appear to separate as it is pushed out of the tube. This is not a defect. The medium and pigment will automatically blend on the palette.
Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

The black was very clumpy and couldn't get it smooth. It clumped on the item I was applying it too.

I just used this item for the first time and WOW I was blown away. I was restoring a finish on an antique lamp and I purchased each color in the gold tones and then blended at will. It went on easily. You can just use your finger to spread it on or I used a brush and then stippled it to give it an aged appearance with a slight texture to the surface. I couldn't believe how easy and wonderful this product is. Highly recommend!! Clean up brushes with Turpentine...
Adds a Touch of Class

I rehab frames from thrift stores for my work and the Rub n' Buff products is often the final touch that makes them look unique and finished. There's a bit of a learning curve, but the result is really worth it.

Easy to use
By DIY Master
Since this is the first time I have used a product like this I was pleased. I originally bought it to redo my ceiling fan but ended up using it on a frame of an old gold mirror I got at an auction. The black over the gold looks like a burnished bronze now. I left some places show through and it looks great!

What a fantastic product! So easy to apply and the results are remarkable. Have used this rub and buff on tables, picture frames, and more. Turns an ordinary item into a most beautiful one. Strongly recommended it.
Tiny Tube, Humongous Coverage

I mostly use Rub 'n Buff patina on copper and brass jewelry, but also on the metal jewelry displays that showcase my jewelry. I use various patinas and I love their unique differences when seen together. I guess the only thing I don't care for is the odor, but normally I only need to use a very tiny quantity for beautiful results.

We have a frame shop and use rub-n-buff for touch-ups and for frame repairs. There is nothing that works as well. No brush marks as with paint. It works on metal or pottery as well as wood. We couldn't find the gold tones anywhere locally, so were happy to find it through Dick Blick.

Oil-based metallic stain-students applied over spray painted ceramic portrait sculptures!! Great bang for the buck!
Love this product!
from Poulsbo, WA
Have used Rub n Buff to touch up frames in the past. Bought a tube recently to mask the old beat-up oak frame on my bathroom medicine cabinet. Covered it beautifully! Then I used it to update the kitchen cabinet hardware. Easier than spray-paint and more economical too. A little tube goes forever.
