Amaco Potter’s Choice glazes achieve the effects of Cone 10 reduction without the need for a reduction gas kiln or firing to high temperatures. These lead-free glazes are made to fire at Cone 5-6 (2205°F–2269°F, 1207°C–1243°C), in an oxidation kiln.
Glazes are available in pint liquid, gallon liquid, or 25 lb dry packages. The 25 lb dry dipping glazes are packaged in 5 gallon buckets for easy pouring. Only stirring is necessary before application. For spraying and dipping, glazes may be thinned with water. See manufacturer's instructions for spray application. PC-4 is not dinnerware safe.
For best results, follow these special application instructions for the following PC series glazes.
Note — Please see Resources tab for more layering and application techniques.
Blue Rutile needs to be applied heavily. Apply at least four coats. It will flow just a little and create beautiful effects.
Shino needs to be applied irregularly. Apply two irregular coats. Once you have used it a while you will see the effects you can get by varying the application.
Salt Buff has to be applied on the thin side. No more than two irregular coats are needed to get the random effect of salt glazing.
Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

I love the intensity of the colors. Layering them is lots of fun full of happy surprises. The celadons are great for using over underglazes too.

I ordered several Potters' Choice glazes. The prices were good and the shipping was fast. I was notified that one glaze was backordered. It was shipped about a week later, in the time frame stated for its approximate shipping date. Will certainly order from Blick's again!
Thank you for offering Amaco PC Glazes at % off regular price. Nice to get a deal now and then! Also appreciate your free shipping offer. That was a deal maker!

Blick offers great discounts and free shipping which really makes Amaco glazes less expensive. Shipping (to Wisconsin) is super quick and once, when some glazes arrived damaged(container broken; glaze leaking), Blick customer service was very helpful and sent replacements right away.
I glaze big and small pieces. I use as the only glaze as well as layer. Also use in combo with Amaco Celedon glezes.

The Only Glaze I want in my Studio!
By Frances Potter

For a few months of the year my classroom goes into production mode as we prepare to make our contribution of 200 bowls to our local charity, God's Storehouse, for their biggest fundraiser of the year: The Empty Bowls Project. Amaco's Potter's Choice 25 gallon glazes make this project possible and affordable on the school's budget. We are also able to produce a product that people are happy to own and display proudly. My instructions, to avoid dripping on the kiln shelf, are for students to dip in glaze for a one second count, and then to pick a second color and dip only the rim. Many colors will fuse or give an effect where the second color looks like it is dripping halfway down bowl.
