Amaco Potter's Choice Glazes

Amaco Potter’s Choice glazes achieve the effects of Cone 10 reduction without the need for a reduction gas kiln or firing to high temperatures. These lead-free glazes are made to fire at Cone 5-6 (2205°F–2269°F, 1207°C–1243°C), in an oxidation kiln.

Glazes are available in pint liquid, gallon liquid, or 25 lb dry packages. The 25 lb dry dipping glazes are packaged in 5 gallon buckets for easy pouring. Only stirring is necessary before application. For spraying and dipping, glazes may be thinned with water. See manufacturer's instructions for spray application. PC-4 is not dinnerware safe.

For best results, follow these special application instructions for the following PC series glazes.

Note — Please see Resources tab for more layering and application techniques.

PC-20 — Blue Rutile needs to be applied heavily. Apply at least four coats. It will flow just a little and create beautiful effects.

PC-50 — Shino needs to be applied irregularly. Apply two irregular coats. Once you have used it a while you will see the effects you can get by varying the application.

PC-60 — Salt Buff has to be applied on the thin side. No more than two irregular coats are needed to get the random effect of salt glazing.

Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.
