Just mix this instant papier mâché with water, then knead and model! Amaco Claycrete Papier Mâché won't stick to hands or tools, making it exceptionally easy to work with — and easy to clean up, too.
Claycrete dries pure white and is very lightweight. When completely dry, it can be painted and decorated. An economical choice for the classroom, it also works well with Amaco Wireform Mesh.

Great for Students
By Sheri, Art Teacher
from Prattville, Alabama
We used this product for details on the skin of our cloth and paper-mache dragons in the art classroom. This product allowed the students to either sculpt the pieces they needed first before application or apply it to the piece and then use tools to add texture. The product felt even more secure when dry, and my students are not worried about it chipping off like spackling or plaster. Plus, a little bit really goes a long way! Overall, we had a great experience with it.

Instant Paper Mache
from Mt. Vernon, IN
I used this product with the paper pulp masks and students 1-12 grade. The results were very good! We worked on a short time frame and needed the paper mache to set up more quickly so we used a mixture of half water/half glue.
Excellent Art Material

The product is the ultimate for helping my students to create multi-cultural masks. We found the material easy to mix and apply to all types of materials. The material helped to build and create a mask similar or better than clay. I plan to use this material always! The cleanup was also minimum. M.s Johnson and students
Great with Ultimate Paper Mache Recipe!
from Brooklyn, NY
I am an elementary art teacher, and this is great material for kids. Unfortunately, it's not cheap, but it is much more convenient than traditional paper mache. When you add water, it has the consistancy of tuna salad and is very satisfying to manipulate. It does not smell and is fairly easy to wash off. When preparing it, there is quite a bit of dust, so you might not want to do that indoors. I have mostly made masks with this material. I usually do it in a couple of stages--first make a base with bristol board and a thin layer of claycrete, then when that dries, build up the features of the mask more sculpturally. This dries very durable and light, with a bumpy texture.
