Welcome to dickblick
A smooth, non-hardening clay, Amaco Artone Venus Modeling Clay is firmer than plastiline or waterbased clays.
Excellent for fine detail, Artone Venus Clay can be added to sculpture over time. Or make "masters" to be cast later in bronze, plaster, or other mediums. It does not shrink.
Note — This clay contains sulfur and cannot be used with RTV rubber molds. It is safe for use with Amaco Rubber Latex.

Advantages Of Venus Modeling Clay
By Ned Dameron
from Amite, Louisiana
Comments about Amaco Artone Venus Modeling Clay:
I use the clay to model sclptures. The results are then deconstructedfor casting in alginate mold using plaster. The plaster is then rassemled as needed--all tweaking is carried out on the plaster withrewetting to carve and wet sanding where surfaces require it. I have used the Venus clay since the 1960's--among many other oil clays andwater based clays. I like the quality of the density and yet easymaleability of the clay. The density allows for a degree of self supporting quality, less armature,it can be hollowed and worked fromboth sides to achieve the proper form especially rounded ones. An armature of sorts can introduced using crummpled aluminum foil. The density is almost that expected in working in sculplting wax butmore of a response to pressure of touch. Each clay has an inherentquality that can be used for an advantage--this is one I return tofor maximum advantages.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
