Better than other cutting mediums
Comments about Alumicolor Alumicutter Ruler:
Have bought many cutters over the years and can't find replacement blades, quirky blade mounts, matt inserts to keep up with etc. No more of that with this edge cutter. A simple Exacto blade amd handle does the trick and I get precision cuts with no 'blade walk' that is common with rotary type cutters. Wouldn't use anything else at this point.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Saves your fingers
from Cburg, VA
They put a ridge in the ruler along the side you cut along. Your fingers tend to rest behind it, out of the way of the Xacto blade. That alone is worth the price.
Nice, but Flawed
By Sinbad the Sailor

The steel strip ruler was very good while it lasted. It was not treated harshly. One day the inserted steel strip along its length popped out of its groove---and kept popping out. Attempts to get support from Alumicutter company itself regarding this issue met with no response.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Used to cut chipboard. I actually need a ruler with a better safety lip, it's OK but better for the lightweight chipboard and paper. I will use it a lot - just not what I bought it for.

I have started making books and this ruler is great to use with my circular cutter or with an exacto knife because the ledge helps keep my fingers safe from getting cut. Even if I slip, which I have done, my fingers are safe behind the ledge. I line up my multiple pages on my self healing, line up the ruler and the circular cutter fits right up against the edge and then I cut thru the multiple layers with ease. It has made my book creations a whole lot easier.
Light but sturdy ruler
from Western WA
I was looking for a better long ruler to use when trimming my printed posters down for clients. I really like this ruler it is light yet the non skid surface on the back keeps it from sliding around like my previous rulers. I find that this one is a good fit for my hands and I have less fatigue in my hands when trimming which also helps to make less mistakes while trimming. Very happy with this purchase and would purchase another size when I get the chance.
Really great for cutting stained glass long straight lines.

I love this tool... I have the 24" and the 12"... I'd like to see a 6" someday... Very good tool... it doesn't slip... it holds its place... It protects the fingers from being cut... The wide edge help to keep the knife blade square to the work...I made instructional videos and recommend them to my customers...
One reservation but great cutting
from NY, NY
I got one for a project and I could cut like a champ. I put it away in a closet for a year or so and when I took it out to use again the black foam backing left these marks like charcoal on everything it touched! What a mess! I could clean the foam so it left less of a mess but it still left some marks. So be warned. The foam underneath may mark light surfaces eventually.
