Welcome to dickblick
These exceptionally rich, non-toxic, water-based inks work great for all types of monotype techniques. The unique slow-drying formula allows plenty of time to create an image on the plate.
Because Akua stays wet on the plate, there's no need to soak paper before printing. Clean, brilliant, lightfast colors are exceptionally strong yet transparent — no chalk, fillers, or polymers are added.
Use Akua modifers to adjust sheen, thickness, and transparency. Akua Liquid Pigment cleans up fast and easy with water. They can also be used for Japanese woodcut and drawing on paper. Inks come in 4 oz (118 ml) containers.

Love this product!

Comments about Rostow & Jung Akua-Kolor Inks:
I used this product for a 3 week (meeting once a week with each grade 2nd-8th). I didn't need to wash the brushes or rollers because it stays wet. This also means that when it's time to clean up it takes a while. Use dish-washing soap and you'll be alright. It also takes a while to dry on paper. Stays tacky for a few weeks, but kids can still take their art home. I'll use it again for sure!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

THANKS! ALWAYS A PLEASURE DEALING WITH DICK BLICK COMPANY!

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the prints are sketchy, leaving many white spots on the paper unreproduced. I laid on the paint as thick as I could.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Just want to say I am very happy that the modifier bottles now come with a 'squirty' lid, much more practical and less messy than the previous screw on lids which meant liquid had to be tipped out or an eyedropper used.Thanks.

Beautiful blending of colors using these printing inks. Just starting to really experiment with them but so much easier to use than other printing inks and can achieve transparemcy with this product.
Not as advertised
from Winston Salem, NC
The problem with these inks is that you have to do as many as 10 roo-ups to get a solid color. I have varied the pressure on my Takach press to achieve strong transfer to paper, but I loose details of my marks. The best ink is one that is very viscous. So you have to air thicken the inks to get a decent transfer. Too much trouble. I will look for another source of ink.

I used this product with clay monoprinting. The way it tints the clay is phenomenal. The colors are brilliant.

Akua Kolors: More MOnoprint options
By Papa Wheelie
from Madison Wi
Use: for mono printing on Gelatin Plate and plexi platePros: Colors are vibrant and deep. Ability to create rich and transparent color layers. Color can be rolled directly on plate so waste is minimized. Colors can be mixed easily and there are additives to create more transparency and thickness. I use in the mono print process on gelatin plate (mostly). I have yet to explore it more deeply but mostly I like the results. Kolor can be added in layers to deepen color. Mixing on plate is a plus.Cons: Some learning curve required to understand usage. Check videos on line to see demonstrations on usage. ONe needs only several drops of color on plate for coverage. Watch out for leaking caps as color waste can occur.I'm looking forward to seeing how Akua Kolor becomes an essential part of my images.
