Welcome to dickblick
These exceptionally rich, non-toxic, water-based inks work great for all types of monotype techniques. The unique slow-drying formula allows plenty of time to create an image on the plate.
Because Akua stays wet on the plate, there's no need to soak paper before printing. Clean, brilliant, lightfast colors are exceptionally strong yet transparent — no chalk, fillers, or polymers are added.
Use Akua modifers to adjust sheen, thickness, and transparency. Akua Liquid Pigment cleans up fast and easy with water. They can also be used for Japanese woodcut and drawing on paper. Inks come in 4 oz (118 ml) containers.

My Printmaking Ink of Choice

I tried a few other inks too: Versatex, Createx and Speedball Block Printing Ink. Akua Liquid Pigment is my ink of choice. The liquid Akua is finely pigmented and produces clean transparency when rolled up for monotype. I am able to achieve deep saturated colors with my layered monotype process. I also use the Akua Intaglio and modifiers of both product lines. Clean up is a breeze and it's safe for my home studio.

I was drawn to them because they didn't require pre-rolling on a palette (laziness). Slow-drying and easily blended, they quickly became my favorite inks to use for gelatin plate printing.LOVE them!! I frequently recommend them.
Love this product!
from Albuquerque, NM
I used this product for a 3 week (meeting once a week with each grade 2nd-8th). I didn't need to wash the brushes or rollers because it stays wet. This also means that when it's time to clean up it takes a while. Use dish-washing soap and you'll be alright. It also takes a while to dry on paper. Stays tacky for a few weeks, but kids can still take their art home. I'll use it again for sure!

THANKS! ALWAYS A PLEASURE DEALING WITH DICK BLICK COMPANY!

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the prints are sketchy, leaving many white spots on the paper unreproduced. I laid on the paint as thick as I could.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Just want to say I am very happy that the modifier bottles now come with a 'squirty' lid, much more practical and less messy than the previous screw on lids which meant liquid had to be tipped out or an eyedropper used.Thanks.
First purchase of this water based printing ink

Beautiful blending of colors using these printing inks. Just starting to really experiment with them but so much easier to use than other printing inks and can achieve transparemcy with this product.
Not as advertised
from Winston Salem, NC
The problem with these inks is that you have to do as many as 10 roo-ups to get a solid color. I have varied the pressure on my Takach press to achieve strong transfer to paper, but I loose details of my marks. The best ink is one that is very viscous. So you have to air thicken the inks to get a decent transfer. Too much trouble. I will look for another source of ink.
