Welcome to dickblick
Durable and easy-to-clean, this slab roller is less expensive than a pasta machine, and easier to use for rolling clay.
The set includes a 10.5" roller and a rolling board, plus rails for four slab thicknesses — 1/16", 1/8", 3/16", and 1/4".

Once I was able to get the gunk off the label it worked.

Comments about Activa Slab Roller:
Once I was able to get the gunk off the label it worked. I would suggest that you not use so much glue on the label that is attached to the board. I had an awful time trying to get it off and was worried that it would deter from the non stick surface. Luckily it did not.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Just pull a piece of canvass over the top and glue to bottom to prevent sticking and you are good to go

mini slab roller
from Granada Hills, CA
I need to make thin slabs for ceramic wind chimes that I make. I was excited to find this product, but then was disappointed because the clay sticks to the roller so much that the clay can't form a decent slab. Not sure how to remedy this problem, so instead have gone back to my old eyeball method of creating an even slab.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought it for use with natural clay, so I coated the surface with canvas. That way the clay doesn't stick, and I also use a wooden rolling pin. But I love to use it for rolling out slabs.

Should have been made of wood
from Penrose, CO
I should have known, clay sticks to plastic. Especially when the clay is moist. This was a great idea, just wrong material.

Great for Rolling Thick Clay
from Tenino, WA
I use this item for my polymer clay figures when I need thicker slabs of clay than my clay machine will make. With the various rails to put in it's great. I did read comments about getting the paper off, but the manufacturer has changed this and mine came off really easy. It is for the most part non-stick, but I found with Sculpey 111 that it tends to stick a bit if the roller and deck isn't wiped off. Other than that, it was a great find and I'm glad I bought it.

O.K., not great
from Birmingham, AL
Would work fine with synthetic clay...real clay sticks....must use corn starch or some other agent to prevent sticking.

Maybe good for Fimo but just not for clay.. Should have realized this was a bust product.
