Acrylic Revolution Begins NOW!!!
from Stockton, CA
Nancy Reyner has put together a fantastic book showing artists how to use acrylics other than just painting with them. There are multiple examples of how to use acrylics on glass, plastic, metal, wood or almost any other type of surface. Ms. Reyner also demonstrates how to paint w/things such as sponges, brayers, string, feathers. She shows artist they can paint on most any surface & that what they paint with are brimming with an infinite amount of many creative possibilities. The pages in her book are colorful & easy enough to learn. Hopefully, even seasoned artists can learn something new from her book.If you are a mixed media artist you will definitely love the many examples of how to use acrylics in ways you probably hadn't thought of yet. You can mix your colors w/different types of textures like cheese cloth or various papers. I use Japanese Kozo rice papers b/c they are strong, easy to work with & they remain more archival than many store purchased papers. This book shows you how to make layers of marbleized paints which are both exciting & beautiful. They can be left as is or added to a collage. Each section of Ms. Reyner's book is filled so many new techniques most artists can add to their repertoire & their creativity. This is now my "go to" resource book whenever I find myself "stuck" when working on an art piece. I love this book's many well photographed examples. There is a section at the back of the book showing other well-known artists art pieces that have incorporated acrylics as their artwork. Thank you Nancy Reyner for writing such a helpful resourceful book, filled w/great techniques, & such wonderful art work. This fantastic book is reasonably priced for being filled with so many ideas on how to use acrylics in new & interesting ways. You will understand while Nancy Reyner titled her book: Acrylics Revolution after buying reading through it.
