Comments about 12-Piece Basic Pottery Tool Set:
I have been making pots for some time now. I was given this set as a present, and was rather excited to use my new tools. At first they seem to be well made, but I had several tools break within the first couple of uses. I do not use the wooden ribs from the set for they are generally to large, and still use the one I have had for the last 7 years. All of the trimming tools broke very quickly and I had to use pc 7 epoxy to fix them. If you are willing to properly glue them together they function well. I still have kemper tools from when I first started throwing. Don't buy this set.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

12 PC Basic Pottery Tool Set
By Ya the Technician

I am currently taking an introduction to ceramics class at my local community college. The tool set included everything I needed. It is made out of a very nice wood with a smooth texture. The tool kit is the best for not only the price but the quality.

The tools are great. It's beautiful wood and is well made. This pack has all you could need. It's worth the money I couldn't find a 12-piece like this any cheaper.

great kit with all you need for beginning clay pottery projects!
from Phoenix, AZ
I've been trying to use the tools on regular air-dry clay (the kind that comes in 25lb bags). Every time I cut the clay with the wire, I'm afraid it's going to pull loose from the handles. The wooden tools are pretty, and they're smooth, but anything with a metal part like the needle, pulls apart with the least effort, making them difficult to clean and nigh on useless afterwards, with the entire metal cap keeping the tool on the wood coming free. No pressure can be used. Incredibly frustrating. I suppose if you're working with very, very soft material and don't mind a throwaway set, this is fine, but this is far too much for the quality of tools you receive.

I purchased these tools for my daughter who is a ceramics major at Western Michigan University. She was very excited when she opened them and cannot wait to get back into her studio and use them. She says they are fantastic.

Poorly made and should be avoided
By Cobb County Ceramics Guru

I purchased these tools for my advanced ceramics students at my high school. These kids are comfortable with clay and the tools they use. By the end of the first day we had two broken tools and now by the end of the semester every set has several broken or loose tools. These tools were a collosal waste of money and I will never buy another tool made by them. I reported it to the company directly but I have yet to get any compensation. The tools fall apart with normal proper use, the wood can't handle being wet and the glue seems no different than standard white glue. Sad and pathetic equipment!

Bigger than expected

This product is really nice, but I am just a beginner and the toolsare too big for my projects, so I wasDisappointed because I can't use it. I need it in much smaller version. The qualityIs nice and deliver was quick.

Maybe someone with huge hands and little need for delicacy would like these tools. Or maybe use as blanks to refine further. Just waaaay too thick and artless for me. The wood is nice so they could be whittled and sanded into refinement.
