Procedure
- Students will design relief sculpture through linear designs that show the 4 types of balance: symmetry, asymmetry, approximate symmetry, and radial.
- Using their best design, the students will transfer their drawing to illustration board, the base for the sculpture.
- Students will then begin to measure lines using string and decide what height they want to cut the strips of paper. If they have low, curvy lines, they need to use tag board. If they have straight, high lines, they will need to use posterboard.
- Students will then begin to glue down the strips of paper by putting beads of white glue on the base of the strips, and then holding them in place for about 15 seconds.
- Once all strips are in place, students will spray paint their sculpture with one color to unify the artwork.
