Wet Bronze Pigments —
Schmincke developed wet bronzes in the early 1950s as a way for painters to achieve special bronze effects in their paintings. Schmincke Bronze is a series of brilliant wet bronzes created by combining Bronze powder with an oil painting solvent. They retain the highest gloss and luminosity when mixed immediately before painting sessions. The increase of binder results in better resistance to wiping. A priming coat of Bronze Medium must be applied before use on absorbent surfaces. To use, mix Bronze Powder with Bronze Medium, and paint immediately with oil of turpentine or turpentine substitute. Tests are recommended prior to the application of varnish.
Color Swatch created using loose powder and was applied on 4" diameter × ½" deep dish of plastic material.
