Flavanthrone Yellow has excellent lightfastness, useful for bright shades of yellow.
Toxicity
Flavanthrone Yellow is not considered toxic.
History
Flavanthrone Yellow is a vat pigment, one of a series of pigments laked from expensive dyes that were developed in the 20th century, for their superior lightfastness. Because of its relative stabily, permanence, and transparency, Flavanthrone Yellow may be used in combination with other colors to create a modern replacement for historic, fugitive colors such as Indian Yellow and Hooker's Green.
As a non-toxic pigment with such properties, it is often used in drawing products such as colored pencils and pastels. Because it is expensive, it is not likely to be used in student grade artist materials.
Alternate Names
Vat Yellow, Cromophtal Yellow A2R, Monolite Yellow FR, Indofast Yellow.
