Maimeri was founded in 1923 by noted Italian impressionist painter, Gianni Maimeri, who was searching to satisfy his own desire for artistic excellence in paint. The result of his passion is a line of highly concentrated, lightfast watercolors.
Color Swatch created using heavy application/diluted application and was applied on cold press watercolor paper (150 lb) material.
Flavanthrone Yellow is a heterocyclic anthraquinone dye that can be laked to form a transparent deep yellow pigment, which ranges in shade from greenish to brown.
Flavanthrone Yellow has excellent lightfastness, useful for bright shades of yellow.
Flavanthrone Yellow is not considered toxic.
Flavanthrone Yellow is a vat pigment, one of a series of pigments laked from expensive dyes that were developed in the 20th century, for their superior lightfastness. Because of its relative stabily, permanence, and transparency, Flavanthrone Yellow may be used in combination with other colors to create a modern replacement for historic, fugitive colors such as Indian Yellow and Hooker's Green.
As a non-toxic pigment with such properties, it is often used in drawing products such as colored pencils and pastels. Because it is expensive, it is not likely to be used in student grade artist materials.
