Acrylic Mediums

For use with Dick Blick Artists' Acrylic paints. Types: Gloss Medium, Matte Medium, Gesso Medium, Gel Medium, Acrylic Retarder, Acrylic Remover, Gesso, Modeling Paste, Matte Varnish

Matte and Gloss Varnish, Extender. Matte Varnish — Provides a protective finish coat of toughness and flexibility. Clear and non-yellowing. Strong enough to resist chemicals, heat and abrasion. Cleans easily with water. 2-6 coats recommended. 8-oz

Types: Gesso--apply as ground to any surface. Gel—-use to achieve glazing, texturing, and impasto effects. Polymer Gloss—-apply over painting to produce a glossy surface. All mixable with other acrylic brands.

These fine products from Chroma allow you to gain control over the painting process. They make working with acrylics easier and allow you more flexibility without requiring you to learn new techniques.

These mediums were developed for use with Wyland Ecological Acrylic Colors. Gel Retarder slows the drying time of acrylic paints. Use the glazing medium to create brilliant, jewel-like glazes.

Add Acrylic Retarder to color to slow drying.

Breaks the surface tension of water, increasing its ability to soak into porous surfaces. This allows the acrylic painter to achieve rich stains on surfaces such as watercolor paper and unprimed canvas.

Use this additive to increase the open (drying) time of acrylic paints. It is useful for "wet-in-wet" techniques, and for reducing skinning on the palette.

Use this medium to slow down the drying time of acrylic paints. It can also be used for decorative effects.

Liquitex Palette Wetting Spray slows the drying time of acrylic color on palette or canvas. It also improves color blending. Simply spray and re-spray as needed to prevent acrylic paint from skinning over.

Maimeri Acrylic Retarder Medium is a translucent gel that reduces the drying time of acrylic colors. It increases brightness without altering viscosity.

Tri-Art Retarder is a water based product designed to slow down the drying time of acrylic colors. Mix it with colors and mediums at up to 15% concentration to increase open time and allow for greater manipulation.

Achieve amazing textures and patterns with Golden Crackle Paste. It is a thick, opaque cracking material, designed to develop deep fissure-like cracks as it cures. It can be tinted with acrylic paints before application or can be painted over once dry.

Apply Crackle Medium over Jo Sonja's colors to get a fine crazing effect.

The professional's acrylic binder of choice for collage and inlay works. Use in conjunction with Pebeo's mortars to improve adhesion. Also for bookmaking and bookbinding. Non-yellowing, translucent, waterproof when dry. Creates a flexible and satin film.

This ready-to-use binder is ideal for producing your own acrylic colors in small batches. Just add dry pigment to the binder and mix with a palette knife, using a simple mixing ratio. Lightfast, non-yellowing, and can be thinned using water. 200 ml jar.

Golden's acrylic polymer GAC 400 is for stiffening fabrics. GAC 400 dries to a hard, stiff film. This allows artists to transform lightweight fabrics into freestanding forms.

Golden's acrylic polymer GAC 900 is for clothing artists. Blend it with acrylic colors to produce fabric paints. When heat-set properly, it offers a very soft hand and laundering stability.

Reduces the stiffness that results from using acrylic directly from the jar and eliminates the need to scrub roughly textured fabrics for paint to adhere to or penetrate the fabric's surface. Prevents dragging, skipping and problems of uneven application.

Golden Gel Topcoat with UVLS (ultraviolet light stabilizers) retains brushstrokes while protecting prints, paper, and other materials from fading. Use these gels to add texture or create a clear barrier prior to working with paint or other materials.

Lascaux's Impasto Gel creates dramatic surfaces. It increases the transparency and intensity of colors and gives the paint more body. Use it also as an adhesive for collages.

Gel mediums are ideal for extending a heavy body paint, to create impasto, relief, or sculptural effects.

When this high-density gel is added to a color, it restores mellowness and allows the artist to work with a great deal of thickness. It is opalescent and extends the drying time of colors. Mix with color up to 50% for more economical painting.
